BIO

The musical creation of a prog-metal guitarist who went to jazz school and came out the other side with an auditory identity crisis of both.

Amero, founded by guitarist and composer Clayton Amero, is a genre-bending project that fuses the riffs and energy of progressive metal with the harmonic colour and improvisational flair of contemporary jazz. Their debut album, A Room With a View of More Rooms (2021), established their signature style of down-tuned breakdowns, soaring sax solos, and quirky, absurdist song titles.

Their sophomore album, Simply Reject Entropy, was completed in 2024, with the album's mastering handled by Acle Kahney of TesseracT. Featuring musical performances from Clayton Amero (guitar & bass), Jacob Rabuka (sax), Graeme Newburn (drums), Roman Dubrule (keys), and Liam Shearer (trumpet), the album released on May 27, 2025. Singles like Cobalt-60 Jenga and Raising Alpacas for Tax Benefits showcase the playful, yet technically rich sound that defines Amero’s unique place in the prog and jazz scenes.

In June 2025, Amero received a Western Canadian Music Award nomination for Instrumental Artist of the Year.

With a focus on fun and exploratory genre-blending, Amero thrives in the space between technical prowess and playful exploration, inviting listeners to embrace the unexpected.
